First Twite arrive

24th October 2017 – overcast/rain SW4/5/6
Offshore
A check of the sea at high tide revealed 6 Common Scoter and a Red-throated Diver. The sheltered eastern shore hosted 2 Shag and a Goosander.
Grounded Migrants
Early morning thrushes were limited to 30 Redwing.
Diurnal Migration
A Siskin flew through.
Wildfowl and Waders
The Brent Goose flock held 150 pale-bellied birds and waders included 15 Greenshank.
Miscellaneous
The first 11 Twite have arrived back on the island and 2 Merlin were seen.
