Offshore
A check of the sea (0800-0900) revealed 162 Razorbill, 39 Common Scoter, 5 Red-breasted Merganser, 3 Guillemot and a Gannet.
Grounded Migrants
Early morning thrushes were limited to a few Blackbird.
Wildfowl and Waders
Waders included 7 Greenshank and 5 Black-tailed Godwit.
Miscellaneous
The Twite flock remained steady at 30 birds and a Merlin was the best of the rest.
Ringing
The best month of the year with finches and sparrows, as usual at this time of the year, dominating the totals which involved 920 birds of 22 species. Individual species totals were as follows (recaptures in brackets): Tree Sparrow 248, (1), Goldfinch 224, (24), Chaffinch 104, Blackbird 66, (1), House Sparrow 57, (8), Dunnock 25, (2), Goldcrest 23, Greenfinch 21, (1), Coal Tit 21, Blue Tit 16, Song Thrush 15, (1), Wren 14, Lesser Redpoll 11, Robin 6, (2), Redwing 6, Great Tit 6, Chiffchaff 5, Long-tailed Tit 4, Blackcap 4, Reed Bunting 2, Sparrowhawk 1 and Treecreeper 1.
