First Goldcrest of the spring

24th February 2019 – early fog clearing later SE2
Grounded Migrants
The early morning fog produced the first Goldcrest of the spring along with single Fieldfare and Redwing.
Diurnal Migration
Three Pink-footed Geese flew through and 2 Raven were escorted off site by the resident pair.
Wildfowl and Waders
The 5 Scaup remain and a Jack Snipe was the best of the waders.
Butterflies and Moths
The first moths of the year appeared in the moth trap overnight with 3 Dark Sword-grass recorded. A Small Tortoiseshell was also on the wing.
