Offshore
Early morning observations (0630-0730) produced 125 Sandwich Tern, 45 Common Scoter, 33 Gannet, 24 Guillemot, 12 Manx Shearwater and a Great Skua.
Grounded Migrants
A Willow Warbler was perhaps heading south although a juvenile Robin was more likely a result of post-breeding dispersal.
Butterflies and Moths
The moth trap attracted 221 moths of 40 species overnight with Archer’s Dart, Burnished Brass, Common Wave, Double square-spot and Tawny Shears all new for the year. Another Painted Lady was logged.
Miscellaneous
A number of orchid species are now in flower on the island, including several Bee Orchids.
