Oystercatcher origins revealed

12th August 2019 – sun and showers NW3/4
Offshore
Early morning observations (0700-0800) produced 7 Gannet, 5 Common Scoter, 2 Manx Shearwater and a Kittiwake. At high tide 7 Little Tern fed along the eastern shore.
Grounded Migrants
Grounded birds involved 7 Sedge Warbler, 6 Willow Warbler, 4 Wheatear, 2 Yellow Wagtail and a Whitethroat.
Diurnal Migration
A flock of 20 Tree Sparrow were seen.
Wildfowl and Waders
Waders included 10 Greenshank amongst 750 Redshank.
Ringing
A colour marked Oystercatcher was originally ringed on its nesting grounds near Reykjavik, Iceland.
