A single Shag remains and offshore movement early morning (0615-0715) included 35 Sandwich Tern, 30 Gannet, 10 Common Scoter, 10 Manx Shearwater and 6 Guillemot.
Grounded Migrants
The Hooded Crow remains.
Moths
A total of 21 species were trapped overnight and new additions for the year involved Yellow Shell, Dark Arches and Tawny Marbled Minor
Little Tern influx
30th May 2007 - bright start then drizzle at times S3/4
Offshore
Early morning sightings (0615-0715) were limited to 44 Guillemot, 18 Sandwich Tern and 3 Kittiwake. Birds feeding at the mouth of the bay on the evening tide included 35 Little Tern and 10 Arctic Tern.
Grounded Migrants
The Hooded Crow remains while two Collared Dove and single Spotted Flycatcher and Wheatear were new in.
Miscellaneous
A Barn Owl hunted the island at dusk.

29th May 2007 - bright and sunny W1/2/3/4/5
Offshore
Early morning observations (0615-0715) produced 150 Sandwich Tern, 90 Common Scoter, 60 Gannet, 3 Kittiwake and 3 Guillemot.
Grounded Migrants
The first Cuckoo of the year finally arrived, otherwise sightings were limited to a single Wheatear and the long-staying Hooded Crow.
Breeding Birds
The results of the annual gull census reveal a stable population after many years of decline with 11,988 pairs of Lesser Black-backed Gull and 3,066 pairs of Herring Gull.
Mammals
Two deer were observed swimming in the channel between the island and the mainland.

Grounded Migrants
There was evidence of a late movement with 2 Whitethroat and single Redstart, Spotted Flycatcher and Chaffinch all noted. The Hooded Crow remains.
Breeding Birds
The first Eider chicks have hatched with 3 broods comprising a total of 9 chicks logged.

Morning observations (0745-0845) involved 65 Common Scoter, 30 Sandwich Tern, 10 Gannet, 4 Manx Shearwater and a single Guillemot. Later in the day, birds feeding over the mouth of Morecambe Bay on the ebbing tide included 50 Sandwich Tern, 33 Arctic Tern and 8 Little Tern.
Grounded Migrants
The Hooded Crow continues to linger and 3 Wheatear were logged.
Diurnal Migration
A few Swallow continue to trickle through.

Morning observations (0745-0845) involved 65 Common Scoter, 30 Sandwich Tern, 10 Gannet, 4 Manx Shearwater and a single Guillemot. Later in the day, birds feeding over the mouth of Morecambe Bay on the ebbing tide included 50 Sandwich Tern, 33 Arctic Tern and 8 Little Tern.

At least 2 Shag remain. Early morning observations (0530-0630) produced totals of 100 Common Scoter, 80 Sandwich Tern, 25 Gannet, 10 Manx Shearwater, 5 Kittiwake, 3 Arctic Tern, 2 Fulmar and single Arctic Skua and Red-throated Diver.
Grounded Migrants
A total of 6 Wheatear was the only record of note.
Diurnal Migration
A few Swallow and House Martin continue to pass through.

Offshore
A flock of 18 Arctic Tern fed close inshore. Early morning observations (0615-0715) included 60 Sandwich Tern, 20 Gannet, 5 Guillemot, 2 Red-throated Diver and a single dark phase Arctic Skua. A second watch in the evening (1900-2000) provided 60 Common Scoter, 40 Gannet, 40 Sandwich Tern, 17 Manx Shearwater and single Fulmar and Kittiwake.
Grounded Migrants
A total of 7 Wheatear were logged and a Hooded Crow remains.
Wildfowl and Waders
Passage waders included 500 Dunlin, 80 Ringed Plover and 3 Bar-tailed Godwit.
Breeding Birds
Post-breeding flocks of Lapwing and Starling are already starting to build.

New species for the year attracted to the MV light overnight included Mottled Rustic, Dusky Brocade, Shark, Shoulder-striped Wainscot, Treble Lines and Poplar Hawk-moth.
