Sanderling origins revealed

Offshore
Morning observations provided just small numbers of Common Scoter, Gannet and Sandwich Tern.
Grounded Migrants
Only 5 Chiffchaff and 3 Wheatear were of note.
Diurnal Migration
Again just a light passage of Meadow Pipit, Swallow and Grey Wagtail.
Miscellaneous
Two Water Rail were logged.
Ringing
A Sanderling controlled on the island on 11th June 2013 as it headed north to breed had originally been ringed on its wintering grounds at Iwik, Mauritania on 13th November 2011.
