Leach’s Petrel at last!

23rd October 2014 – overcast rain at times SW3/4
Offshore
The winds finally swung back to the southwest and the anticipated Leach’s Petrel of the last few days finally arrived with 2 birds logged. Also seen were an Arctic Skua, 20 Razorbill, 10 Common Scoter, 8 Guillemot, 7 Shag and single Gannet and Kittiwake.
Grounded Migrants
Early morning thrushes involved 2 Song Thrush and a Redwing. Otherwise there were 4 Goldcrest newly arrived.
Diurnal Migration
Small numbers of Linnet, Meadow Pipit, Skylark, Reed Bunting and Chaffinch were recorded.
Wildfowl and Waders
The Brent Goose flock held 5 dark-bellied birds and additional sightings involved 11 Pintail and 4 Shoveler. Waders included 4 Greenshank.
Miscellaneous
Additional sightings included Water Rail, Merlin and 86 Little Egret.
