Offshore
Early morning observations (0830-0930) produced 63 Common Scoter, 5 Razorbill, 2 Red-throated Diver, 2 Kittiwake and single Arctic Skua and Red-breasted Merganser.
Grounded Migrants
Again little evidence of grounded birds just a single Goldcrest, perhaps not unsurprising considering the prevalent conditions.
Miscellaneous
A Merlin was the best of the rest.

8th October 2019 – sunny spells and squally showers SW5/6/7
Offshore
Seawatching remained to the fore with observations (0730-0830 & 1030-1130) producing 82 Common Scoter, 49 Razorbill, 25 Gannet, 2 Red-breasted Merganser, 2 Kittiwake and single Red-throated Diver and adult Little Gull.
Grounded Migrants
Again little evidence of grounded birds just single Goldcrest and Chiffchaff logged.
Miscellaneous
A total of 85 Little Egret were along the eastern shore.

Seawatching remained to the fore with observations (0730-0830 & 1030-1130) producing 82 Common Scoter, 49 Razorbill, 25 Gannet, 2 Red-breasted Merganser, 2 Kittiwake and single Red-throated Diver and adult Little Gull.

Observations ahead of the next rain band (0800-1000) produced 145 Common Scoter, 27 Wigeon, 10 Gannet, 6 Razorbill, 3 Red-throated Diver and single Great Skua, Tufted Duck and Pochard.

Observations on the falling tide as the rain cleared (0830-1030) produced 400 Common Scoter, 160 Wigeon, 47 Gannet, 37 Razorbill, 12 Teal, 5 Kittiwake, 2 Sandwich Tern, 2 Bonxies and a Red-breasted Merganser
Grounded Migrants
Again little evidence of newly grounded birds with single Redwing, Goldcrest and Chiffchaff logged.
Miscellaneous
Two Raven were the best of the rest.

Black Brant returns
5th October 2019 – overcast E2/3
Rarities
The adult Black Brant has returned for another winter, it was located amongst 137 pale-bellied and 2 dark-bellied Brent Geese feeding at Snab Sands on the flooding tide.
Grounded Migrants
There was little evidence of newly grounded birds with just 5 Goldcrest, 4 Redwing and a single Chiffchaff located.
Diurnal Migration
Totals through the morning included: 640 Pink-footed Goose, 140 Meadow Pipit, 135 Linnet, 90 Pied Wagtail, 20 Skylark, 15 Chaffinch, 14 Reed Bunting, 3 Grey Wagtail and 3 Swallow.

Although the first 4 Redwing of the autumn were logged, excepting 57 Robin, 30 Wren and 21 Dunnock, only 8 Goldcrest and a Wheatear were seen.

A Spotted Redshank was amongst of 16 Greenshank.
Miscellaneous
Two Peregrine and single Merlin and Black Guillemot were the best of the rest.

Little of note with just 2 Goldcrest and a Chiffchaff recorded.

A strong early morning passage steadily petered out as the wind freshened but produced totals of 1130 Pink-footed Goose, 570 Meadow Pipit, 350 Linnet, 260 Pied Wagtail, 155 Skylark, 120 Starling, 38 Tree Sparrow, 10 Chaffinch, 6 Rook, 4 Swallow, 3 Grey Wagtail, 3 Reed Bunting, 2 Jay and a Lesser Redpoll.

A group of 10 Shag were offshore early morning.
Grounded Migrants
Notwithstanding the 52 Robin, 24 Dunnock and 20 Wren logged the conditions resulted in few grounded birds with just 7 Goldcrest, 6 Chiffchaff, 3 Song Thrush and single Willow Warbler, Wheatear and Blackcap.
Diurnal Migration
Birds were again on the move in the light winds, morning sightings involved 1260 Pink-footed Geese, 50 Meadow Pipit, 50 Pied Wagtail, 32 Skylark, 26 Tree Sparrow, 20 Chaffinch, 15 Whooper Swan, 10 Swallow, 8 Reed Bunting, 6 Grey Wagtail and 5 Lesser Redpoll.
Wildfowl and Waders
The Brent Goose flock held 50 pale-bellied birds and a group of 20 Greenshank were the pick of the waders.
Miscellaneous
Single Hooded Crow, Merlin and Peregrine and 2 Little Owl were the best of the rest.

A few butterflies remain on the wing with Red Admiral, Painted Lady and Small White logged.
