31st October 2009 - sunny spells SSW3/2
Offshore
Early morning observations on the rising tide (0800-0900) produced 81 Wigeon, 59 Common Scoter, 45 Kittiwake, 22 Teal, 12 Razorbill, 4 Whooper Swan, 3 Red-breasted Merganser and 2 Guillemot.
Grounded Migrants
Sightings were limited to a handful of thrushes with 3 Song Thrush, 2 Blackbird, 2 Redwing and a Fieldfare logged.
Diurnal Migration
Another poor showing with just 215 Starling, 11 Meadow Pipit, 8 Whooper Swan, 3 alba Wagtail and single Chaffinch and Lesser Redpoll logged.
Miscellaneous
A total of 53 Twite were seen and both Water Rail and Merlin continue to be recorded.
Moths
The moth traps held Angle Shades, Silver Y, Chestnut, Red-line Quaker, Dark Sword Grass and Large Yellow Underwing.

Brent Goose numbers continue to build

30th October 2009 - overcast/murky SE4/5/
Offshore
Sightings on the rising tide (0800-0900) included 56 Common Scoter, 33 Razorbill, 3 Shag and a Kittiwake.
Grounded Migrants
A few Blackbird were the remnants of earlier arrivals.
Diurnal Migration
Just 550 Starling and a late Swallow were logged.
Wildfowl and Waders
The Brent Goose flock increased to 65 pale-bellied birds which included several colour-ringed individuals. Also recorded were 34 Red-breasted Merganser, 20 Greenshank and a Black-tailed Godwit.
Butterflies
A few Red Admiral remain on the wing.
Moths
Migrants involved 2 Silver Y.

Fieldfares and Pink-footed Geese on the move

29th October 2009 - overcast SE2/3
Offshore
Just small numbers of Gannet, Common Scoter, Razorbill and Guillemot were logged early morning.
Grounded Migrants
Again thrushes were to the fore with 18 Blackbird, 11 Song Thrush and 2 Redwing grounded at dawn along with 2 Blackcap.
Diurnal Migration
The first hour after dawn saw the skies alive with birds with smaller passage then continuing through the day. Totals included 1440 Pink-footed Goose, 900 Fieldfare, 190 Jackdaw, 180 Starling, 41 Tree Sparrow, 40 Greenfinch, 34 Chaffinch, 18 Meadow Pipit, 10 Redwing, 9 alba Wgtail, 9 Skylark, 7 Reed Bunting, 4 Song Thrush, 2 Brambling, 2 Swallow, 2 Little Egret and single Siskin and Twite.
Miscellaneous
Several Merlin and a Water Rail remain and the Little Egret pre-roost gathering held 33 birds. Two Great Spotted Woodpecker were logged.

Seabirds add variety

28th October 2009 - bright and sunny S4/3/2
Offshore
Morning observations produced 60 Kittiwake, 28 Common Scoter, 20 Razorbill and single Red-throated Diver, Guillemot and Great Skua.
Grounded Migrants
Limited to 11 Fieldfare, 8 Song Thrush and 3 Blackbird.
Diurnal Migration
A few species remain on the move with 110 Jackdaw, 50 Greenfinch, 30 Starling, 3 Chaffinch, 2 Rock Pipit and a Redpoll logged.
Miscellaneous
At least one Water Rail remains and a pre-roost gathering of Little Egret contained 34 birds.
Mammals
A Weasel attracted the attentions of 4 Wren and 3 Stonechat.

Just odds and ends

27th October 2009 - overcast/mist/drizzle SE2/3
Offshore
Slow going with just 3 Common Scoter and 2 Shag seen through the early morning gloom.
Grounded Migrants
Again thrushes led the way with 13 Song Thrush, 9 Redwing and 3 Blackbird grounded early morning before they inevitably moved on. Also seen was another Blackcap.
Diurnal Migration
Although 840 Starling appeared through the murk little else was moving with just 8 Meadow Pipit, 4 Pink-footed Geese, 2 alba Wagtail and a single Twite logged.
Wildfowl and Waders
The Brent Goose flock held 28 pale-bellied birds.
Miscellaneous
At least one Water Rail remains and 2 Merlin were recorded.
Butterflies
Small numbers of Red Admiral remain on the wing.

Calm after the storm

26th October 2009 - overcast W2/1
Grounded Migrants

Thrushes were again to the fore at daybreak with 21 Redwing, 12 Blackbird, 7 Song Thrush and 4 Fieldfare logged before they quickly moved on. Also seen was a single Blackcap.
Diurnal Migration
The skies provided 120 Skylark, 30 Greenfinch, 16 Tree Sparrow, 12 alba Wagtail, 8 Meadow Pipit, 4 Twite, 3 Chaffinch and single Rock Pipit and Great Spotted Woodpecker - the latter continuing the good run of sightings for this species on the island through the autumn.
Wildfowl and Waders
At least 12 Greenshank remain.
Miscellaneous
A total of 38 Little Egret were logged, including a pre-roost gathering of 32 birds. Other additional sightings included 2 Water Rail and a Little Owl.

Decent late autumn seawatch

25th October 2009 - overcast/showers SW6
Offshore
Morning observations (0800-1000) were led by single Pomarine Skua, Great Skua and Great Northern Diver. Also seen were 62 Gannet, 31 Common Scoter, 22 Razorbill, 17 Kittiwake and 2 Guillemot.

Great Northern Diver and record numbers of Little Egret

24th October 2009 - early rain clearing to showers SE then S 4/5/6
Offshore
Morning observations (0845-0945) provided 62 Razorbill, 43 Common Scoter, 10 Gannet and single Scaup, Red-throated Diver and Guillemot.
Diurnal Migration
A skein of 100 Pink-footed Geese battled south.
Miscellaneous
A record breaking 39 Little Egret were strewn along the eastern shore of the island with initial enquires suggesting that the colour-ringed birds originate from colonies in south-east England. A group of 16 Twite were seen.
Moths
The micro Caloptilia stigmatella and plume moth Emmelina monodactyla were new for the year and just the second island records.

Further small scale movement

23rd October 2009 - overcast/showers SSE3/2
Offshore
Observations over the rising tide produced just small numbers of Gannet, Common Scoter and Razorbill.
Grounded Migrants
A single Blackcap was logged and newly arrived thrushes included 5 Blackbird, 3 Song Thrush and 2 Redwing.
Diurnal Migration
Small numbers of birds were again on the move through the morning with totals including 275 Starling, 72 Jackdaw, 23 Greenfinch, 17 Whooper Swan, 10 Chaffinch, 7 Redpoll, 7 alba Wagtail, 4 Twite, 4 Reed Bunting, 2 Mistle Thrush and a Rock Pipit.
Wildfowl and Waders
A flock of 1000 Golden Plover was the only record of note.
Miscellaneous
Single Water Rail and Merlin were seen.
Dragonflies
A late Migrant Hawker was on the wing.
Moths
The moth traps revealed the first island record of the micro Exapate congelatella.

Observations (0900-1000) produced just 17 Common Scoter, 12 Razorbill, 3 Gannet and a Great Crested Grebe.

Limited to 7 Redwing, 3 Blackbird, 2 Song Thrush and a Chiffchaff.
Diurnal Migration
A few birds were on the move with 160 Starling, 65 Pink-footed Goose, 15 Woodpigeon, 3 Siskin and 2 alba Wagtail logged.
Wildfowl and Waders
At least 15 Greenshank remain.
Miscellaneous
The 32 Little Egret remain scattered across the island and now two colour-ringed individuals have been identified. At least 2 Merlin and single Barn Owl and Water Rail were logged.
Butterflies
A few Red Admiral remain on the move.

Autumn doldrums

21st October 2009 - early rain then sunny intervals SE4/5
Offshore
Sightings were limited to a flock of 5 Common Scoter and a handful of Guillemot.
Grounded Migrants
A few grounded thrushes involved 4 Blackbird, 2 Song Thrush and a Redwing.
Diurnal Migration
Little concerted movement was in evidence with just 43 Jackdaw, 6 Redwing and 3 alba Wgtail logged.
Wildfowl and Waders
At least 19 Greenshank remain and 11 Shoveler were logged.
Moths
Even the moth traps were empty!

Brent Geese and Little Egrets

20th October 2009 - ovecast/rain later SE4/5/6
Offshore
Observations (0815-0915) were to provide little reward with just 69 Common Scoter, 12 Gannet and single Razorbill, Guillemot and Red-throated Diver.
Wildfowl and Waders
The Brent Goose flock contained 54 pale-bellied and 22 dark-bellied individuals as they fled the attentions of wind-surfing activities elsewhere in Morecambe Bay.
Miscellaneous
The 32 Little Egrets remain and include at least one colour-ringed individual. At least one Merlin continues to hunt the island.

Slavonian Grebe stars

19th October 2009 - overcast/rain SW4
Offshore
Morning observations on the rising tide and in persistent rain and low visibility produced just 29 Common Scoter, 5 Guillemot, 5 Razorbill, 3 Gannet and a pale phase Arctic Skua. However, the highlight appeared later in the day when a Slavonian Grebe was found consorting with Great Crested Grebes along the eastern shore on the ebbing tide.
Wildfowl and Waders
The Brent Goose flock contained 18 pale-bellied and 7 dark-bellied birds. Totals from the monthly WeBS count included 7387 Oystercatcher, 2214 Redshank, 1400 Golden Plover, 1144 Wigeon, 1022 Curlew, 413 Teal, 340 Lapwing, 328 Grey Plover, 252 Mallard, 234 Cormorant, 158 Ringed Plover, 41 Red-breasted Merganser, 39 Snipe and 24 Grey Heron.
Miscellaneous
Another Great Spotted Woodpecker continued the excellent recent run of sightings for this species and 11 Twite were logged. A total of 32 Little Egret are now scattered along the island's eastern shore.

Twite numbers begin to build

18th October 2009 - overcast/rain at times SW4
Offshore
Early morning observations (0845-0945) provided 110 Common Scoter, 100 Razorbill, 20 Common Gull, 10 Kittiwake, 4 Gannet, 3 Guillemot, 2 Shag and single Red-throated Diver and Goldeneye.
Grounded Migrants
Limited to 10 Blackbird, 3 Redwing and 3 Song Thrush.
Diurnal Migration
Just 5 Meadow Pipit, 2 Rock Pipit, 2 Grey Wagtail and a Lesser Redpoll were logged in the inclement conditions.
Wildfowl and Waders
Wigeon numbers continue to build with 1030 birds logged, the first Goldeneye reappeared and the Brent Goose flock contained 19 pale-bellied and 2 dark bellied individuals. Waders included 6000 Oystercatcher, 2080 Redshank, 1100 Golden Plover, 23 Greenshank and the first Purple Sandpiper of the winter.
Miscellaneous
At least 2 Water Rail remain, good numbers of Little Egret continue to show and the Twite flock contained 30 birds.
Moths
The Figure of Eight was new for the year.

Great Northern Diver, Ring Ouzel and first Brambling

17th October 2009 - bright and sunny/early frost/calm
Offshore
Sightings over calm seas on the falling tide were led by a Great Northern Diver. Also seen were 22 Common Scoter, 21 Razorbill and single Guillemot and pale-bellied Brent Goose.
Grounded Migrants
The first throes of dawn saw thrushes again dominating with 145 Redwing, 55 Blackbird, 12 Song Thrush, 4 Fieldfare and a Ring Ouzel logged, however many quickly moved on as the sun rose. The only additional direct evidence of truly grounded birds involved a single Blackcap.
Diurnal Migration
The bright and clear conditions with little wind again saw birds on the move and totals (0800-1030) included: 450 Jackdaw, 195 Pink-footed Goose, 80 Starling, 55 Meadow Pipit, 50 Greenfinch, 28 Linnet, 22 Skylark, 20 alba Wagtail, 17 Whooper Swan, 9 Redpoll, 2 Siskin, 2 Brambling, 2 Tree Sparrow and single Rock Pipit and Swallow.
Miscellaneous
Good numbers of Little Egret remain scattered along the eastern shore of the island and additional sightings of note included 3 Little Owl, 2 Water Rail and 2 Merlin. At least 3 Rock Pipit frequented the maritime shore and a further 3 birds were flushed from the salt marshes by the high tide.
Butterflies
Small numbers of Painted Lady and Red Admiral continue to move through and a late Small Copper was on the wing.

Little Egret influx

16th October 2009 - bright and sunny NE2/3
Offshore
Just small numbers of Common Scoter and Razorbill were on the move.
Grounded Migrants
Thrushes were again to the fore with 34 Redwing, 12 Blackbird and 10 Song Thrush logged along with single Fieldfare and Chiffchaff.
Diurnal Migration
Variety rather than quantity prove to be the result of morning observations with 320 Meadow Pipit, 220 Skylark, 210 Jackdaw, 180 Starling, 110 Linnet, 40 Greenfinch, 16 Redpoll, 15 alba Wagtail, 15 Swallow, 12 Whooper Swan, 5 Siskin, 5 Carrion Crow, 4 Golden Plover, 4 House Sparrow, 2 Tree Sparrow, 2 Twite, 2 Rook and single Grey Wagtail and Great Spotted Woodpecker amongst the species logged.
Miscellaneous
A noticeable influx in Little Egret produced a total of 26 birds. Also seen were single Water Rail, Merlin and Little Owl.
Butterflies
Migrant species remain on the move in the warm afternoon sunshine with 30 Red Admiral and a Painted Lady seen along with a late Speckled Wood.

15th October 2009 - early fog/calm then sunny spells W1
Grounded Migrants
A total of 14 Redwing, 7 Song Thrush and single Fieldfare and Chiffchaff were a scant reward for the promising early morning conditions.
Diurnal Migration
After a slow start a few birds moved through as the conditions cleared. Sightings included 55 alba Wagtail, 45 Pink-footed Goose, 45 Meadow Pipit, 40 Starling, 30 Skylark, 28 Linnet, 25 Greenfinch, 12 Chaffinch, 4 Redpoll, 3 Siskin, 3 Grey Wagtail and single Twite and Swallow.
Miscellaneous
The Water Rail remains.
Moths
Migrants attracted to the moth traps overnight involved 2 Rush Veneer, 2 Silver Y and a Pearly Underwing - the latter the first of the year.

First Fieldfares arrive

14th October 2009 - mist/drizzle/calm then overcast SW1
Grounded Migrants
The conditions produced a scattering of grounded birds including 4 Blackbird, 4 Song Thrush, 3 Goldcrest, 2 Rock Pipit and single Blackcap, Wheatear and Chiffchaff.
Diurnal Migration
Several small waves of winter thrushes arrived through the course of the morning, pausing only briefly before moving on. Totals involved 106 Redwing and 17 Fieldfare along with 2290 Starling, 17 Meadow Pipit, 5 alba Wagtail, 3 Siskin, 2 Rock Pipit and 2 Raven.
Wildfowl and Waders
At least 7 Greenshank remain.
Miscellaneous
At least 13 Little Egret and a Water Rail continue to linger.
Butterflies
Small numbers of Red Admiral and Painted Lady continue to move through.

Stock Dove tops the bill

Grounded Migrants
A Stock Dove provided the highlight of the day with additional sightings limited to single Redwing, Blackcap and Chiffchaff.
Diurnal Migration
The main focus of attention was again on the skies where birds were again on the move from first light with morning totals of 354 Jackdaw, 240 Meadow Pipit, 82 alba Wagtail, 54 Greenfinch, 45 Pink-footed Goose, 40 Skylark, 23 Chaffinch, 18 Redpoll, 25 Linnet, 20 Starling, 5 Swallow, 4 Siskin, 2 Raven, 2 Rock Pipit, 2 Grey Wagtail and a solitary Whooper Swan.
Miscellaneous
At least 8 Little Egret remain and a Water Rail was logged. Both Barn and Little Owl remain in residence.
Moths
The moth traps held the first Chestnut of the year.

A total of 42 Redwing were grounded at first light but quickly moved on as the sun rose, also seen were 5 Song Thrush and 4 Chiffchaff.

Clear skies and light winds saw diurnal migration dominate sightings. Totals through the course of the morning included 520 Meadow Pipit, 180 Pink-footed Goose, 150 Skylark, 142 Jackdaw, 55 Swallow, 50 Greenfinch, 48 Linnet, 42 Starling, 40 alba Wagtail, 20 Reed Bunting, 7 Siskin, 4 House Martin, 2 Tree Sparrow, 2 Rock Pipit and single Great Spotted Woodpecker and Grey Wagtail.
Miscellaneous
Single Water Rail and Merlin were seen.
Butterflies
A few Red Admiral continue to move through while both Comma and Small Copper remain on the wing.

Hooded Crow

11th October 2009 - early showers then sunny spells WNW4/5
Offshore
Early morning observations (0815-0915) produced 110 Razorbill, 75 Common Scoter, 18 Gannet, 12 Kittiwake and 2 Red-throated Diver.
Grounded Migrants
Limited to a single Wheatear.
Wildfowl and Waders
The Brent Goose flock contained 27 pale-bellied birds, all adults, suggesting a poor breeding season.
Miscellaneous
A Hooded Crow was perhaps the same itinerant individual seen earlier in the autumn. At least 8 Little Egret continue to linger and a Peregrine was logged.

First Redwing arrive

10th October 2009 - misty start then sunny spells W1/2
Grounded Migrants
Early mist produced a smattering of grounded birds including 4 Song Thrush, 3 Redwing, 2 Chiffchaff and a Blackcap.
Diurnal Migration
The mist soon evaporated to produce clear skies and birds were again on the move. Sightings were highlighted by a Common Buzzard that drifted slowly north over the island, also seen were 130 Skylark, 115 Starling, 110 Meadow Pipit, 83 Greenfinch, 70 alba Wagtail, 54 Swallow, 18 Reed Bunting, 18 Chaffinch, 9 Siskin, 3 Lesser Redpoll, 2 Grey Wagtail and a Rock Pipit.
Wildfowl and Waders
Wigeon and Teal numbers continue to build steadily and waders included 16 Greenshank and a lone Black-tailed Godwit.
Miscellaneous
Just 3 Little Egret were logged and the Kingfisher put in another appearance late in the day. Other records included Water Rail, Merlin and several Little Owl.
Butterflies
Butterflies were also moving through with 10 Red Admiral and 2 Painted Lady.
Moths
Migrants in the moth traps involved 2 Rush Veneer and a Silver Y.

9th October 2009 - overcast/rain by evening SE3/4
Offshore
Early morning observations (0800-0900) were highlighted by a northbound Scaup. Additional sightings included 36 Common Scoter, 8 Gannet and 2 Red-throated Diver.
Grounded Migrants
A solitary Chiffchaff provided the only evidence of grounded birds.
Diurnal Migration
A few birds remain on the move with 50 Pink-footed Geese, 40 Meadow Pipit, 20 Greenfinch, 12 Skylark and 4 alba Wagtail logged.
Wildfowl and Waders
The Brent Goose flock contained 39 pale-bellied birds and 8 dark-bellied individuals, however, no colour-ringed or juvenile birds were noted.
Miscellaneous
At least 2 Merlin continue to hunt over the island.

Mediterranean Gull

8th October 2009 - sunny spells NW4/3/2/1
Offshore
An adult Mediterranean Gull was the pick of the day's sightings which also included small numbers of Common Scoter, Gannet, Red-throated Diver, Guillemot and Razorbill.
Grounded Migrants
Limited to single Chiffchaff and Wheatear.
Diurnal Migration
Much quieter than of late with just 70 Pink-footed Goose, 40 Jackdaw, 4 Siskin and 2 Grey Wagtail logged.
Wildfowl and Waders
Waders included 7600 Oystercatcher, 900 Golden Plover, 20 Greenshank and a Spotted Redshank. At least 35 pale-bellied Brent Geese remain.
Miscellaneous
At least 5 Little Egret continue to haunt the eastern shore. A flock of 50 Linnet contained several Twite and 2 Barn Owl, 2 Little Owl, 2 Merlin and single Peregrine and Water Rail were logged.

First Twite of the autumn

7th October 2009 - sunny spells/early frost/calm
Offshore
Just small numbers of Razorbill, Guillemot, Gannet and Common Scoter were recorded.
Grounded Migrants
Limited to 6 Chiffchaff, 2 Song Thrush and single Wheatear, Blackcap and White Wagtail.
Diurnal Migration
The optimum conditions saw birds continuing to move through and the morning produced totals of 200 Meadow Pipit, 135 Swallow, 130 Skylark, 80 Linnet, 70 alba Wagtail, 45 Pink-footed Goose, 20 Greenfinch, 20 Chaffinch, 7 Tree Sparrow, 4 Twite, 3 Siskin, 2 Grey Wagtail and single House Martin, Lesser Redpoll and Great Spotted Woodpecker.
Wildfowl and Waders
Waders included 16 Greenshank and single Spotted Redshank and Black-tailed Godwit amongst 900 Redshank.
Miscellaneous
At least 14 Little Egret remain and Water Rail, Peregrine and Merlin were all logged.

Observations on the falling tide as the rain relented somewhat provided 30 Razorbill, 10 Gannet and a late Sandwich Tern.
Grounded Migrants
Only evidenced by a solitary Chiffchaff.
Diurnal Migration
Single Grey Wagtail and Siskin were the only species to trouble the log.
Wildfowl and Waders
Waders included 15 Greenshank.

The Brick was a new addition to the year list.

Yellow-browed Warbler tops the bill

5th October 2009 - sunny spells SE2/1
Rarities
The island's 14th Yellow-browed Warbler was found late in the afternoon in the brambles and scrub near Pier Hide at South Walney Nature Reserve (reserve opens 1000-1700hrs).
Offshore
Just small numbers of Gannet, Common Scoter and Guillemot were logged.
Grounded Migrants
A noticeable influx on recent days with 30 Robin, 23 Wren, 13 Dunnock, 6 Chiffchaff, 5 Song Thrush, 3 Wheatear and a Blackcap recorded.
Diurnal Migration
Again light winds saw the sky alive with birds through the course of the morning. Pink-footed Geese were again to the fore with 16 skeins totalling 1435 birds flying south along with totals of 1600 Meadow Pipit, 625 Starling, 200 alba Wagtail, 180 Skylark, 160 Linnet, 120 Swallow, 80 Golden Plover, 35 Chaffinch, 25 Greenfinch, 5 Reed Bunting, 3 Siskin, 2 Raven and single Great Spotted Woodpecker, Rock Pipit and Grey Wagtail.

Just small numbers of Red-throated Diver, Razorbill, Guillemot, Common Scoter and 2 Shag were logged.

A Wheatear and 2 Blackcap were the pick of the newly grounded birds.

Totals through the morning included 150 Meadow Pipit, 52 Greenfinch, 50 Skylark, 40 alba Wagtail, 24 Swallow, 12 Carrion Crow, 4 House Martin, 3 Siskin, 2 Whooper Swan, 2 Redpoll and 2 Grey Wagtail.
Wildfowl and Waders
At least 20 pale-bellied Brent Geese remain and waders included 13 Greenshank and single Ruff and Black-tailed Godwit.
Miscellaneous
At least 2 Merlin were present along with Barn and Little Owl.

Rubbish seawatching

3rd October 2009 - early rain the sun W5/6/7
Offshore
Although the weather conditions looked good the results proved very disappointing with persistent but unrewarded observation through the day producing just 10 Common Scoter, 8 Razorbill, 6 Gannet, 2 Guillemot and single Manx Shearwater, Arctic Skua, Red-throated Diver and Kittiwake.
Miscellaneous
At least 7 Little Egret and a Kingfisher continue to linger.

Brent Geese continue to build

Offshore
A drier interlude (1100-1200) allowed for a check over the sea. Observations were led by single Arctic Skua and Arctic Tern amongst small numbers of Gannet, Common Scoter, Razorbill, Guillemot and Red-throated Diver.
Diurnal Migration
Despite the adverse conditions a small skein of 40 Pink-footed Geese flew through.
Wildfowl and Waders
Wildfowl are now starting to become more prominent on the salt marshes and sightings included 440 Wigeon, 35 pale-bellied Brent Geese, 6 Shoveler and a lone Pintail. Waders included 500 Golden Plover, 8 Greenshank and 4 Black-tailed Godwit.
Miscellaneous
A Little Owl sheltered from the inclement conditions.

Offshore
Remaining quiet over the sea with observations producing just small numbers of Gannet and Common Scoter.
Grounded Migrants
Again Chiffchaff were the only obvious newly arrived birds with five birds logged.
Diurnal Migration
A combination of clear conditions and a light northerly breeze saw the skies come alive. Southbound passage (0800-1100) was dominated by Pink-footed Geese with 33 skeins totalling 4050 birds logged - one of the heaviest day passage totals ever witnessed over the island. The movement was also complemented with a varied selection of passerines including 1100 Meadow Pipit, 220 Skylark, 140 Swallow, 55 alba Wagtail, 40 Linnet, 27 Chaffinch, 20 Grey Wagtail, 17 Carrion Crow, 15 Reed Bunting, 3 Siskin, 2 Raven and single Tree Sparrow and Lesser Redpoll along with the first Whooper Swan of the autumn.
Miscellaneous
A Water Rail squealed to reveal its presence.
Dragonflies
Two Migrant Hawker were logged.
Butterflies
A few Red Admiral and Small Tortoiseshell were on the wing in the warm morning sunshine.
