Offshore
A check of the sea revealed 45 Shag, 8 Common Scoter and single Sandwich Tern and Razorbill.
Grounded Migrants
Early morning thrushes were limited to 3 Redwing and 2 Song Thrush while additional sightings involved 25 Blue Tit, 18 Long-tailed Tit, 4 Goldcrest, 3 Great Tit and a Coal Tit.
Diurnal Migration
Totals through included 350 Jackdaw, 10 Carrion Crow, 10 Chaffinch, 8 Swallow, 6 Siskin, 2 Tree Sparrow and single Great Spotted Woodpecker, Grey Wagtail and Lesser Redpoll.
Miscellaneous
Two Water Rail were logged and the Hooded Crow remains.
21st October 2023 – bright and sunny NNW2/3
Offshore
A check of the sea revealed 32 Shag, 20 Common Scoter, 3 Red-breasted Merganser and single Red-throated Diver and Great Crested Grebe.
Grounded Migrants
Early morning thrushes were limited to 7 Redwing and 3 Fieldfare while additional sightings involved 48 Long-tailed Tit, 23 Wren, 20 Dunnock and 2 Goldcrest.
Diurnal Migration
Totals through included 550 Jackdaw, 165 Pink-footed Goose, 24 Reed Bunting, 22 Chaffinch, 15 Whooper Swan, 12 Tree Sparrow, 6 Swallow, 5 Lesser Redpoll and single Brambling and Great Spotted Woodpecker.
Wildfowl and Waders
A drake Scaup was logged.
Miscellaneous
Two Water Rail were heard.
19th October 2023 – overcast/rain/mizzle ESE3/4
Offshore
A check of the sea revealed 47 Common Scoter, 20 Shag, 19 Razorbill, 4 Pintail, 2 Gannet and single Goldeneye and Red-breasted Merganser.
Grounded Migrants
Limited to 3 Redwing and a Goldcrest.
Diurnal Migration
A drier interlude produced 130 Fieldfare, 125 Siskin, 10 Chaffinch and 4 Greenfinch.
Wildfowl and Waders
Another Goldeneye was logged.
Miscellaneous
The Hooded Crow remains.
18th October 2023 – overcast E5/7
Offshore
Observations over the sea (0800-0900) produced 167 Common Scoter, 23 Gannet, 14 Razorbill, 3 Red-breasted Merganser and single Puffin, Mediterranean Gull, Shag and Red-throated Diver.
Diurnal Migration
A ringtail Hen Harrier headed north and additional sightings involved 80 Fieldfare, 10 Redwing and a Whooper Swan.
Wildfowl and Waders
The first Goldeneye of the autumn was logged.
Miscellaneous
The Hooded Crow remains and 2 Peregrine and a Merlin were logged.
17th October 2023 – hazy sun ENE3/4
Offshore
Observations over the sea (0730-0830) revealed just 69 Common Scoter, 7 Great Crested Grebe, 5 Razorbill, 5 Gannet, 3 Shag and a Red-throated Diver.
Grounded Migrants
Early morning thrushes involved 3 Redwing and 2 Fieldfare.
Diurnal Migration
Totals included 1100 Jackdaw, 30 Pink-footed Goose, 8 Siskin and 3 Swallow.
Wildfowl and Waders
The Brent Goose flock held 412 light-bellied birds, also seen were 4180 Oystercatcher, 1690 Redshank, 818 Curlew, 741 Wigeon, 610 Golden Plover, 420 Teal, 189 Pintail, 112 Snipe, 20 Greenshank and a Jack Snipe.
Miscellaneous
A record total of 108 Little Egret were seen and 2 Peregrine and a Merlin were logged.
16th October 2023 – bright and sunny V1/2
Grounded Migrants
Early morning thrushes involved 6 Redwing; additional sightings included 17 Long-tailed Tit, 12 Coal Tit and 8 Goldcrest.
Diurnal Migration
Totals of 350 Pink-footed Goose, 300 Jackdaw, 4 Siskin, 2 Lesser Redpoll, 2 Whooper Swan and a Rock Pipit were logged.
Miscellaneous
The Hooded Crow remains in residence.
15th October 2023 – bright and sunny V1/2
Grounded Migrants
Early morning thrushes involved 18 Redwing; additional sightings included 23 Long-tailed Tit, 12 Goldcrest and 3 Chiffchaff.
Diurnal Migration
Totals of 500 Jackdaw, 50 Chaffinch, 37 Siskin, 25 Lesser Redpoll, 23 Whooper Swan, 5 Swallow, 4 Tree Sparrow, 4 Stock Dove, 2 House Martin and a Grey Wagtail.
Wildfowl and Waders
A Black-tailed Godwit was logged and a Jack Snipe was amongst 23 Snipe.

The Hooded Crow remains in residence and a Water Rail was logged.
14th October 2023 – sun and showers NW3/5
Offshore
Observations over the sea (0800-0900) revealed 510 Razorbill, 395 Kittiwake, 104 Common Scoter, 44 Gannet, 19 Shag, 12 Red-throated Diver and a Great Northern Diver. The Long-tailed Duck remains along the eastern shore.
Grounded Migrants
Early morning thrushes involved 6 Redwing while 3 Goldcrest and a Chiffchaff were also grounded.
Diurnal Migration
A Snow Bunting flew over along with totals of 11 Siskin, 3 Pink-footed Goose, 2 Tree Sparrow and a Lesser Redpoll.
Wildfowl and Waders
The Brent Goose flock held 414 light-bellied birds.
Miscellaneous
A Barn Owl hunted at dawn and a Merlin were logged.
13th October 2023 – early rain then showers WNW3/6
Offshore
A quick scan of the sea in the rain revealed just 37 Common Scoter, 3 Shag and single Arctic Skua and Red-throated Diver, however, the Long-tailed Duck remains along the eastern shore.
Grounded Migrants
Early morning thrushes involved 3 Redwing and a Song Thrush; additional sightings included 18 Robin, 17 Goldcrest, 16 Dunnock, 14 Wren and 2 Chiffchaff.
Diurnal Migration
Despite the conditions totals of 100 Siskin, 40 Pink-footed Goose and 4 Whooper Swan flew through.
Wildfowl and Waders
The Brent Goose flock held 404 light-bellied and 6 dark-bellied birds with a good proportion juvenile, suggesting a good breeding season. Additional wildfowl included 170 Pintail.
