Rather poor fare

23rd September 2007 - overcast/heavy rain at times SW4/5/6
Offshore
Morning observations in between the rain (0800-0900 & 1100-1200) produced 25 Kittiwake, 23 Gannet, 21 Common Scoter, 3 Red-throated Diver, 3 Razorbill and 3 Guillemot all moving out of Morecambe Bay while at least 5 Shag loitered just offshore.
Grounded Migrants
Totals of 5 Chiffchaff, 4 Stonechat, 3 Goldcrest and 2 White Wagtail were perhaps leftovers from yesterday.
Diurnal Migration
Just 20 Swallow, 20 Meadow Pipit and 5 Skylark were logged in between the rain.
Wildfowl and Waders
A group of 4 Black-tailed Godwit and a Whimbrel were the best of the waders.
Miscellaneous
A rather bedraggled Merlin was seen.
