Spotted Flycatchers arrive

Observations over the sea provided little other than a handful of Gannet.
Grounded Migrants
A small fall was highlighted by the mass arrival of Spotted Flycatcher with 30 birds logged, also seen were 40 Wheatear, 35 Willow Warbler, 5 Whinchat, 3 Redstart, 3 Garden Warbler and single Blackcap and Cuckoo. However, totals of 33 Sedge Warbler and 26 Whitethroat probably included many local breeding birds.
Diurnal Migration
Three late Barnacle Geese and 80 Pink-footed Geese headed north while 4 Lesser Redpoll, 2 House Martin and a Swift were amongst 140 Swallow.
Wildfowl and Waders
A Whimbrel and 50 Knot were the pick of the waders.
Moths
Shuttle-shaped Dart, Dark-barred Twin-spot Carpet, Common Carpet and Cinnibar have now emerged.
