11th May 2017 – bright and sunny E2/3
Grounded Migrants
It has been a good spring for Whinchat – at least compared to recent years - with a further 2 birds logged. Also seen were 3 Wheatear and single Garden Warbler, Redstart and Goldcrest – the latter quite late for here.
Diurnal Migration
Swallow and House Martin continue to trickle through.
Wildfowl and Waders
The first Mallard chicks have now emerged and a few Whimbrel remain.
Moths
Small Square-spot and Clouded-bordered Brindle were new for the year.
