Great Northern Diver and Scaup

11th November 2017 – sunny spells/calm
Offshore
Dawn saw a congregation of 30 Shag along with single Great Northern Diver and Red-throated Diver.
Grounded Migrants
Early morning thrushes involved 18 Fieldfare, 15 Song Thrush, 10 Redwing and 2 Mistle Thrush. A total of 7 Goldcrest were the only other grounded birds.
Diurnal Migration
A late flurry saw 45 Meadow Pipit logged. Also seen were 12 Chaffinch, 11 Whooper Swan, 9 Lesser Redpoll, 2 Brambling, 2 Twite and 2 Rock Pipit.
Wildfowl and Waders
A total of 6 Scaup were recorded.
Miscellaneous
A total of 6 Water Rail were logged. Birds of prey involved Little Owl, Merlin, Peregrine, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel.
Butterflies
A Red Admiral remained on the wing.
