Migration conditions

13th September 2026 – early drizzle then suuny spells/calm
Offshore
A check of the flat sea revealed 42 Common Scoter, 36 Shag, 6 Gannet, 6 Red-throated Diver, 3 Red-breasted Merganser and a Sandwich Tern.
Grounded Migrants
Grounded migrants involved 10 Robin, 8 Whitethroat, 6 Chiffchaff, 2 Spotted Flycatcher and a Wheatear.
Diurnal Migration
Totals of 520 Meadow Pipit, 320 Pink-footed Goose, 110 Swallow, 60 House Martin, 54 Grey Wagtail, 7 Sand Martin and single Tree Pipit and Tree Sparrow moved through once the drizzle cleared.
Wildfowl and Waders
A flock of 54 light-bellied Brent Geese was seen and waders included 220 Turnstone.
Miscellaneous
A Cetti’s Warbler, Hooded Crow, Water Rail and 2 Peregrine were the best of the rest.
Mammals
A pod of 10 Bottle-nosed Dolphin were offshore and a Weasel was seen.
Dragonflies
A total of 6 teneral Red-veined Darter were seen, consolidating the counties first confirmed breeding record.
Butterflies and Moths
Two Clouded Yellow were recorded.
