First Pink-feet of the autumn

8th September 2012 – overcast/calm
Offshore
Two Red-throated Diver were the pick of the offshore sightings.
Grounded Migrants
An influx of Robin was evident with 20 birds logged, also seen were 6 Chiffchaff, 6 Whitethroat and single Willow Warbler, Goldcrest, Whinchat and Wheatear.
Diurnal Migration
Two small skeins of Pink-footed Geese totalling 53 birds moved through late afternoon but the only other evidence of diurnal migration involved small numbers of Meadow Pipit and a solitary Grey Wagtail.
Wildfowl and Waders
Two Black-tailed Godwit were the pick of the waders.
Moths
The first Lunar Underwing of the autumn appeared in the moth trap.
