First Fieldfare of the autumn

Grounded Migrants
Another scattering of grounded birds included 9 Tree Sparrow, 7 Goldcrest, 6 Wheatear, 5 Song Thrush, 3 Blackbird, 2 Chiffchaff and single Blackcap, Treecreeper, Mistle Thrush and Redwing.
Diurnal Migration
Visible migration through the course of the morning produced 635 Pink-footed Geese, 450 Jackdaw, 330 Meadow Pipit, 120 Starling, 40 Tree Sparrow, 35 Skylark, 31 Chaffinch, 12 Swallow, 7 Siskin, 2 Redpoll and single Brambling and Fieldfare.
Miscellaneous
Water Rail, Hen Harrier, Merlin, Peregrine, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk and Little Owl were all seen.
Moths
A Beaded Chestnut was attracted to the moth trap.
Dragonflies
A Migrant Hawker was again on the wing.
