Further hints of autumn

Offshore
Morning sightings (0845-0945), although highlighted by a single dark phase Arctic Skua, generally involved the usual suspects with just 100 Sandwich Tern and small numbers of Gannet, Guillemot, Manx Shearwater, Kittiwake and Razorbill.
Grounded Migrants
Two Grey Wagtail provided a further hint that autumn approaches.
Diurnal Migration
A single Siskin headed south.
Wildfowl and Waders
A post-breeding flock of 140 Curlew contained a single Whimbrel.
Butterflies
The first Meadow Brown was on the wing and good numbers of Large Skipper are spread across the island.
