First Curlew Sandpiper of the autumn

Offshore
Morning observations (0800-0900) produced 138 Common Scoter, 85 Gannet, 43 Kittiwake, 34 Sandwich Tern, 5 Shelduck, 3 Razorbill - including a bizarre looking white-winged individual - 3 Red-throated Diver, 2 Shoveler and single Arctic Skua and Manx Shearwater.
Diurnal Migration
Still little evidence of any significant southbound movement with just 100 Meadow Pipit, 20 Swallow, 3 Grey Wagtail and 2 Sand Martin logged.
Grounded Migrants
Another smattering of grounded birds included 15 Goldcrest, 11 Robin, 10 Stonechat, 9 Wheatear, 5 Chiffchaff, 5 White Wagtail, 3 Whinchat, 2 Grey Wagtail and single Sedge Warbler, Whitethroat and Willow Warbler.
Wildfowl and Waders
Waders included the first Curlew Sandpiper of the autumn and a juvenile Spotted Redshank.
Miscellaneous
The ringtail Hen Harrier and at least 13 Little Egret remain and a Common Buzzard drifted over the island.
