Diurnal migration dominates

22nd October 2018 – sunny spells/calm then WNW3/4
Offshore
A group of 10 Shag were offshore early morning.
Grounded Migrants
Early morning thrushes involved 3 Redwing, 3 Song Thrush and 2 Mistle Thrush. Additional sightings were limited to single Chiffchaff and Goldcrest.
Diurnal Migration
Calm conditions at dawn saw a few birds on the move including 800 Jackdaw, 60 Tree Sparrow, 35 Chaffinch, 20 Reed Bunting, 13 Twite, 10 Skylark, 10 Greenfinch, 6 Whooper Swan, 5 Brambling, 2 Siskin and 2 Grey Wagtail.
Wildfowl and Waders
Three Shoveler were seen and waders included 2 Greenshank and a Black-tailed Godwit.
Miscellaneous
Single Water Rail, Merlin and Peregrine were the best of the rest.
Moths
A White-speck was new for the year.
