Out of season Little Gull

4th June 2013 – bright and sunny E1/2
Offshore
Morning observations provided little other than small numbers of Gannet, Manx Shearwater, Sandwich Tern and Guillemot. A first-summer Little Gull provided the highlight of the day.
Grounded Migrants
A singing Lesser Whitethroat was perhaps newly arrived.
Diurnal Migration
A few Swallow continue to arrive.
Moths
The best catch of the year to date provided 126 moths of 19 species. Immigrants again included several Diamond-back Moth while Red Twin-spot Carpet, Lime-speck Pug and Light Brown Apple Moth were new for the year amongst an exceptional 65 Brown Silver-line.
