It was a Chiffchaff and Robin day

7th October 2026 – bright and sunny after overnight rain NNW2
Grounded Migrants
Chiffchaff and Robin were to the fore with 42 and 40 respectively, also seen were 14 Stonechat, 2 Goldcrest, 2 Blackcap, 2 Wheatear and a Redstart. At least one Cetti’s Warbler remains.
Diurnal Migration
Totals of 1,245 Pink-footed Goose, 135 Skylark, 52 Meadow Pipit, 40 Chaffinch, 37 Jackdaw, 30 Linnet, 18 Pied Wagtail, 16 Carrion Crow, 12 Tree Sparrow, 4 Brambling, 2 Swallow and 2 Siskin were logged.
Wildfowl and Waders
The Brent Goose flock held 300 light-bellied birds.
Miscellaneous
The Hooded Crow remains and single Peregrine and Merlin were the best of the rest.
Butterflies and Moths
Immigrants in the moth trap involved Pearly Underwing and another Vestal. Butterflies still on the wing involved Red Admiral and Small White
