2nd May 2019 – early rain clearing to sunny spells WNW2/3
Offshore
Early morning observations on the rising tide (0630-0730) produced 176 Sandwich Tern, 133 Guillemot, 113 Common Scoter, 40 Gannet, 19 Kittiwake, 14 Red-throated Diver, 10 Arctic Tern, 5 Razorbill, 3 Puffin and single Little Tern and Manx Shearwater.
Grounded Migrants
A very light sprinkling of newly arrived migrants included 6 Wheatear, 2 Blackcap and 2 Willow Warbler.
Wildfowl and Waders
Waders included 1000 Dunlin, 600 Knot, 300 Sanderling, 28 Whimbrel and 8 Golden Plover.
Miscellaneous
Single Peregrine and Raven were the best of the rest.
Butterflies and Moths
Flame Shoulder and Lychnis were new for the year.
