15th June 2021 – sunny spells/calm
Offshore
Early morning observations over the sea (0530-0730) revealed 755 Manx Shearwater, 265 Common Scoter, 205 Sandwich Tern, 57 Gannet, 5 Puffin, 2 Kittiwake and a Fulmar.
Diurnal Migration
A Lesser Redpoll and 2 Stock Dove were logged.
Breeding Birds
A female Teal was seen escorting a single chick.
Butterflies and Moths
The light trap attracted 267 moths of 54 species with Heart and Dart the dominant species and Buff Ermine, Sandy Carpet, Wormwood Pug, Thistle Ermine and Large Groundling new for the year – the latter would also appear to be the first for the island.
