Puffin run continues

13th May 2019 – bright and sunny SE2 later
Offshore
Early morning observations (0630-0730) again provided variety rather than quantity with 300 Guillemot, 63 Manx Shearwater, 45 Sandwich Tern, 29 Kittiwake, 24 Gannet, 15 Common Scoter, 10 Razorbill, 5 Red-throated Diver and continuing the recent excellent run of sightings 9 Puffin.
Grounded Migrants
Three Whinchat were amongst 8 Wheatear and a single Spotted Flycatcher was also logged.
Diurnal Migration
Swallow continue to trickle through, amongst which were single Tree Pipit, House Martin and Siskin.
Wildfowl and Waders
Two late Wigeon and 4 Common Sandpiper were seen.
Breeding Birds
There are now 5 Reed Warbler holding territory on the island.
Butterflies
Wall Brown and Small Heath have now emerged.
