8th August 2023 – sunny spells WNW3/4
Offshore
A quick check of the sea revealed 300 Sandwich Tern, 6 Shag, 4 Little Tern and a Gannet.
Grounded Migrants
Again only 7 Willow Warbler, 4 Whitethroat, 2 Sedge Warbler and 2 Wheatear were seen.
Diurnal Migration
A group of 3 Tree Pipit flew through.
Wildfowl and Waders
Nine Shoveler were newly arrived.
Miscellaneous
The Hooded Crow remains.
Ringing
A colour-ringed Sandwich Tern seen on 31st July 2023 had previously been ringed at nearby Hodbarrow, Cumbria on 28th June 2019 and in the meantime had been seen at Strand, Cape Province, South Africa on 10th April 2022 (10367km SSE).
