Yellow Wagtail

10th August 2023 – bright and sunny E2/3
Offshore
A quick check of the sea revealed 60 Manx Shearwater, 30 Sandwich Tern,6 Shag, 4 Great Crested Grebe, 3 Little Tern and 2 Gannet.
Grounded Migrants
The clear skies were again not conducive to producing grounded birds, consequently only 20 Pied Wagtail, 14 Willow Warbler, 4 Whitethroat and a Sedge Warbler were seen.
Diurnal Migration
A flock of 11 Tree Sparrow and single Yellow Wagtail and Tree Pipit flew through.
Wildfowl and Waders
Waders included 210 Sanderling and 10 Greenshank and 9 Shoveler remained.
Miscellaneous
The long-staying Hooded Crow remains and 3 Peregrine were the best of the rest.
Butterflies and Moths
The moth trap attracted 115 moths of 38 species overnight with Apple leaf Miner, Small Rufous and Cloaked Minor new for the year.
