5th August 2019 – early showers then bright and sunny SW3/4
Offshore
Early morning observations over the sea (0630-0730) produced 141 Manx Shearwater, 63 Common Scoter, 53 Sandwich Tern, 445 Gannet, 2 Fulmar and single Arctic Skua, Kittiwake and Tufted Duck.
Grounded Migrants
Grounded birds involved 10 Willow Warbler, 6 Stonechat, 4 Sedge Warbler, 4 Yellow Wagtail and 2 Whitethroat.
Diurnal Migration
Another Tree Sparrow was logged.
Miscellaneous
Both Peregrine and Merlin were seen.
Butterflies and Moths
Painted Ladies were reduced in number and new for the year in the moth trap was Rhomboid Tortrix.
