Sanderling controls

20th August 2019 – sunny spells W3
Offshore
Observations over the sea (0700-0800) provided just 43 Common Scoter, 2 Sandwich Tern and a Gannet. At high tide 5 Little Tern fed along the eastern shore.
Grounded Migrants
Warblers involved 5 Sedge Warbler, 5 Willow Warbler, 2 Whitethroat and a Lesser Whitethroat.
Wildfowl and Waders
Waders included 10 Greenshank.
Miscellaneous
A Merlin was the best of the rest.
Ringing
Details of a couple of colour-ringed Sanderling seen on the island on 29th April 2019 have just been received, they had been ringed at Ron’s, O Grove, Pontevedra, Spain on 10th January 2018 and 17th January 2019 respectively.
