Grounded Migrants
The theme of the month continued with little evidence of grounded birds with just 4 Goldcrest, 2 Chiffchaff and a Blackcap logged.
Diurnal Migration
A trickle of Meadow Pipit, Skylark, Swallow and Grey Wagtail were logged.
Wildfowl and Waders
The first 7 pale-bellied Brent Geese returned.
Miscellaneous
A total of 45 Little Egret were recorded.
Ringing
It proved to be a frustrating month for the ringers with just 92 birds of 17 species handled. Individual species totals were as follows (retraps in brackets). Meadow Pipit 21, Robin 14 (2), Goldfinch 11 (2), Goldcrest 8, House Sparrow 7 (1), Wren 5 (1), Blackcap 3, Chiffchaff 3, Great Tit 3, Dunnock 2, Greenfinch 1 (2), Chaffinch 1, Blue Tit 1, Sparrowhawk 1, Willow Warbler 1, Whitethroat 1 and Blackbird 1.
