The skies finally come alive

Grounded Migrants
A few more grounded birds than of late with 21 Robin, 10 Goldcrest, 3 Wheatear and single Chiffchaff and Song Thrush.
Diurnal Migration
Birds flooded through with the first respite for many days from the generally southerly wind direction. Totals through the morning included 11400 Meadow Pipit, 6780 Pink-footed Geese, 1525 Linnet, 880 Skylark, 440 Starling, 165 alba Wagtail, 61 Swallow, 34 Chaffinch, 19 Grey Wagtail, 18 Tree Sparrow, 17 Reed Bunting, 4 Whooper Swan and a Siskin.
Miscellaneous
Both Barn Owl and Little Owl were about at dawn and a Merlin was logged.
