With the weather set fair seabirds lead the way

14th April 2010 – bright and sunny NE3/4
Offshore
Early morning observations (0800-0900) produced a dark phase Arctic Skua heading into Morecambe Bay. Also seen were 120 Sandwich Tern, 103 Razorbill, 31 Common Scoter, 20 Gannet, 6 Guillemot, 5 Kittiwake, 4 Red-throated Diver and 2 Fulmar.
Grounded Migrants
Another quiet day with just single Wheatear, White Wagtail, Chiffchaff and Tree Sparrow logged.
Diurnal Migration
Small numbers of Meadow Pipit and Swallow were noted coming in off the sea.
Wildfowl and Waders
Waders included 60 Golden Plover – many in summer plumage and 14 Purple Sandpiper and 33 Sanderling amongst 350 Turnstone
