6th April 2007 - bright and sunny N2/3
Offshore
At least 10 Shag were present, along with 25 Sandwich Tern, 19 Common Scoter, Red-throated Diver and Kittiwake. A total of 1270 Eider were logged as birds began to move inshore as the breeding season beckons.
Grounded Migrants
A total of 19 Wheatear were logged along with 8 Goldcrest and singles of White Wagtail, Fieldfare and Redwing.
Diurnal Migration
Passage continued with a NE movement including 130 Meadow Pipit, 10 Sand Martin, 10 alba Wagtail and a Redpoll.
Wildfowl and Waders
At least 2 Gadwall remain, a total of 4 Greenshank were amongst 500 Redshank and the overwintering first-winter drake Long-tailed Duck consorted amongst the Eiders. However, highlight was a first-winter Glaucous Gull roosting on the periphery of the Great Black-backed Gull colony at high tide.
Miscellaneous
A Little Egret was in flooded fields along Biggar Bank.
Moths
A Dotted Border attracted to an MV Trap becomes only the third island record.
