Offshore passage provides variety and Willow Warblers flood in

Offshore
An early morning watch (0745-0845) produced the first Manx Shearwater, Little Tern and Puffin of the year. Other sightings included: 240 Common Scoter, 120 Sandwich Tern, 32 Gannet, 24 Razorbill, 12 Guillemot, 11 Red-throated Diver, 14 Red-breasted Merganser and 4 Arctic Skua. A second less eventful watch (1015-1115) provided an additional 50 Common Scoter, 30 Sandwich Tern, 12 Gannet and 5 Red-throated Diver.
Grounded Migrants
Fall conditions saw good numbers of Willow Warbler present with 75 birds logged, however, other migrants were sparse with just 6 Wheatear and single Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Redwing and Robin.
Diurnal Migration
No coordinated count was undertaken and just 10 Meadow Pipit, 5 alba Wagtail and a Sand Martin were noted.
