The first Arctic Tern moves through

Offshore
The first Arctic Tern of the spring moved through early morning (0740-0840) along with 22 Red-throated Diver, 43 Manx Shearwater, 8 Gannet, 10 Kittiwake, 55 Sandwich Tern, 125 Razorbill and 15 Guillemot.
Grounded Migrants
A Hooded Crow was perhaps the bird seen a few days earlier, thereafter sightings were limited to 10 Wheatear, 7 Willow Warbler and single Blackcap and Chiffchaff. The Lesser Whitethroat continues to sing along the hedgerows at Biggar.
Diurnal Migration
Another small hirundine movement was evident with 11 Sand Martin and 8 Swallow logged along with 3 alba Wagtail.
Wildfowl and Waders
At least 3 Whimbrel remain along with a flock of 330 Golden Plover - many in full summer plumage.
Butterflies
An early Large White was on the wing.
