Common Scoter dominate early morning passage

Offshore
At least 2 Shag remain. Early morning observations (0515-0715) produced totals of 660 Common Scoter, 160 Sandwich Tern, 60 Kittiwake, 15 Gannet, 4 Guillemot and 2 Great Crested Grebe. A brief watch early evening (1830-1900) provided a feeding flock of 45 Sandwich Tern, 15 Arctic Tern and 2 Little Tern close inshore on the ebbing tide.
Grounded Migrants
A total of 14 Wheatear were logged and at least one Hooded Crow still lingers.
Diurnal Migration
Hirundines continue to move through with 80 Swallow and 10 House Martin logged.
Wildfowl and Waders
The only record of note involved 3 Whimbrel.
Breeding Birds
A census revealed a population of 65-70 pairs of Great Black-backed Gull and the first Stonechat broods have fledged.
