Scoter passage builds

7th July 2019 – sunny spells W2/3
Offshore
Early morning observations over the sea (0630-0730) produced 800 Common Scoter, 172 Manx Shearwater, 58 Sandwich Tern, 21 Gannet, 2 Razorbill, 2 Great Crested Grebe and single Puffin and Arctic Tern.
Grounded Migrants
Single Treecreeper – the second of the autumn and single Chiffchaff were the only newly grounded birds.
Dragonflies
Two male Black-tailed Skimmer were seen.
Butterflies and Moths
The moth trap attracted 244 of 41 species with Common Emerald, Short-cloaked Moth, Cloaked Minor and July Highflyer all new for the year.
