Wood Sandpiper remains

27th July 2019 – overcast/rain/calm
Offshore
Early morning observations (0615-0715) produced 305 Common Scoter, 31 Manx Shearwater, 16 Gannet, 10 Sandwich Tern and two first-summer Mediterranean Gull.
Grounded Migrants
Yellow Wagtail increased to four birds while 12 Willow Warbler and a Blackcap were also logged.
Wildfowl and Waders
The Wood Sandpiper remains and additional waders included 630 Dunlin, 50 Sanderling, 10 Greenshank, 8 Black-tailed Godwit, 8 Whimbrel, 6 Snipe and 2 Common Sandpiper.
Miscellaneous
The long-staying Hooded x Carrion Crow put in another appearance.
Mammals
An Otter was seen.
Butterflies and Moths
Attractions to the moth trap overnight included Brown-line Bright-eye and Haworth’s Minor – both new for the year.
