29th August 2023 – overcast/early showers W3/4
Offshore
Early morning observations over the sea (0700-0800) produced 390 Sandwich Tern, 117 Common Scoter, 24 Shag, 22 Gannet, 10 Common Tern, 6 Arctic Skua, 3 Kittiwake and a Red-throated Diver. At hightide a juvenile Puffin was off the easter shore.
Grounded Migrants
A limited supply with just 8 Robin, 2 Willow Warbler, 2 Goldcrest, 2 Wheatear and single Whitethroat and Sedge Warbler logged.
Diurnal Migration
A very light movement produced 3 Grey Wagtail, 3 Sand Martin and a single Yellow Wagtail.
Wildfowl and Waders
A group of 85 Curlew included “Luke” the returning leucistic bird.
Miscellaneous
At least one Marsh Harrier remains and 40 Little Egret and a Peregrine were the best of the rest.
