Brent Goose influx

Offshore
A scan of the sea revealed 25 Common Scoter, 5 Red-throated Diver and 2 Shag.
Grounded Migrants
A few grounded birds were again in evidence with 31 Robin, 7 Goldcrest, 4 Chiffchaff, 3 Stonechat, 3 Wheatear, 2 Song Thrush and a Blackcap logged.
Diurnal Migration
The skies were much quieter today with totals through the morning including 240 Pink-footed Goose, 80 Skylark, 70 Meadow Pipit, 22 Swallow, 19 Chaffinch and 12 Grey Wagtail.
Wildfowl and Waders
An overnight influx saw the Brent Goose flock hold 87 light-bellied birds amongst 2050 Wigeon and 77 Pintail. Waders included 130 Grey Plover.
Miscellaneous
The Hooded Crow put in another appearance.
Butterflies and Moths
The light trap attracted 49 moths of 12 species with Lunar Underwing the dominant species. Large Wainscot and Feathered Rannunculus were new for the year.
