Pink-feet continue to dominate sightings

17th September 2022 – bright and sunny/calm then NNW3/4
Offshore
A scan of the sea at dawn revealed 6 Shag but nothing else of note.
Grounded Migrants
The clear skies were not inducive to providing much in the way of grounded bird with just 9 White Wagtail, 2 Stonechat, 2 Chiffchaff and a Wheatear logged.
Diurnal Migration
A further 800 Pink-footed Geese flew through, however the skies were also generally quiet with additional sightings limited to 200 Meadow Pipit, 35 Skylark, 21 Grey Wagtail, 18 Swallow and single Sand Martin, Tree Sparrow and Siskin recorded.
Wildfowl and Waders
A group of 8 Whimbrel were logged.
Miscellaneous
An adult Mediterranean Gull was seen while single Peregrine and Merlin were the best of the rest.
Mammals
A Wood Mouse was seen.
Butterflies and Moths
A number of Small Copper were on the wing in the sunshine and the light trap held just 14 moths of seven species with Lunar Underwing new for the year.
