Rarities
A Great White Egret fished the saltmarsh at Haws Bed on the tide.
Offshore
A scan of the sea revealed 8 Shag, 5 Pintail and 3 Gannet.
Grounded Migrants
A few grounded birds were in evidence with 31 Robin, 6 Goldcrest, 3 Stonechat, 3 Wheatear and a Chiffchaff logged.
Diurnal Migration
The skies again produced the majority of sightings, birds were passing through in waves with totals through the morning including 1910 Swallow, 1813 Pink-footed Goose, 1700 Meadow Pipit, 380 Skylark, 350 Linnet, 110 Starling, 31 Pied Wagtail, 22 Chaffinch, 16 Grey Wagtail, 4 Rook, 2 Lesser Redpoll and single Yellow Wagtail, Sand Martin and Tree Sparrow.
Wildfowl and Waders
The Brent Goose flock held 19 light-bellied birds and 50 Pintail were amongst large numbers of Wigeon. Three Goosander were recorded and a Little Stint – the first of the year, was the pick of the waders.
Miscellaneous
A ringtail Hen Harrier was also reported while two Merlin were the best of the rest and the leucistic Curlew remains in residence.
