Lingering Osprey

7th September 2022 – sunny spells and showers SE3/4
Offshore
Early morning observations over the sea (0700-0800) produced 184 Common Scoter, 16 Gannet, 6 Sandwich Tern, 6 Razorbill, 3 Common Tern, 2 Guillemot and 2 Red-throated Diver.
Grounded Migrants
Again, perhaps predictably, considering the weather conditions just a single Wheatear provided evidence of any new arrivals.

A light trickle through the morning included 4 Grey Wagtail and a Yellow Wagtail.
Wildfowl and Waders
Waders included 24 Greenshank, 12 Snipe and a Black-tailed Godwit amongst 600 Redshank.
Miscellaneous
An Osprey lingered over the island (0815-1115) and the long-staying Hooded Crow remains.
Butterflies and Moths
The light trap held 60 moths of 19 species, immigrants involved Rusty Dot Pearl and Silver Y while Treble-bar was the first of the year.
